Dragon Ball is possibly the best anime of all time. Breaking records in America and broadcasting worldwide in places like South American, Australia, and Japan, as well as the United States, Dragon Ball is well known. The series began in a magazine called Shonen Jump before it became a manga and then a TV show. The first series appeared in 1984. Now there are four Dragon Ball shows: Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball Z Kai. A fifth show is coming out in Japan in June of 2015. This fifth installment is defiantly cannon. The original Dragon Ball creator, Akira Toriyama, is on board and will have a hand in the new anime, unlike Dragon Ball GT which did not involve Akira. The new anime show will be called Dragon Ball Super.
You can expect an epic new anime from Akira. This show will probably use modern graphics and animating techniques like those seen in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods. The show will take place after the Majin Buu saga and feature enemies stronger than Frieza and Majin Buu. There is a lot that I hope to see in this new series, such as halfblooded Saiyans obtaining higher levels of Super Saiyan but not new transformations altogether. I want to see other characters who aren’t Saiyans, like Piccolo and Uub, catch up to the Saiyans in terms of power levels. Some new surviving Saiyans, like the ones we’ve seen in the movies, would be awesome. In my opinion, it would be even better if they are evil, new allies. Dragon Ball Z was missing female Saiyans, so seeing a female Super Saiyan in Dragon Ball Super would be cool.
I expect to see the team go out and collect the Dragon Balls and grant new wishes. I would like to see a new enemy who is also trying to collect the Dragon Balls, though I suspect Frieza’s henchmen collected the Dragon Balls in Dragon Ball Z: Revival of F. New fusions would be very cool. Perhaps they could have Gohan fuze with someone or two human characters fuse to become stronger. A reunion of all the major and side characters, somewhere near the beginning or the end of the new anime, is a must. Even if these things don’t happen, it’s sure to be a good show. Fans have been waiting for over a decade. There have been petitions, Facebook pages and all sorts of pushes for a new anime. There will be epic fights for sure. Everything old we loved will come back in a new way. I can’t wait to see this anime.
